Heidi Lengel, MMT, LPC, MT-BC, PMH-C

Heidi Lengel is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania and holds a dual Master of Music Therapy (MMT)& Professional Counseling degree from Temple University (2012) and is certified by the Certification Board of Music Therapists (MT-BC). She holds the perinatal mental certification (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International (PSI), is a Level 2 Certified Complex Trauma Practitioner (CCTP-II), has completed the training to become a member of The American Society of Reproductive Medicine - Mental Health Professional Group (ASRM-MHPG). Heidi is an EMDR Level 1 Certified Practitioner, and is also a certified birth and bereavement doula (CD-SBD).  

Heidi facilitates a warm, accepting, & trauma informed therapeutic environment where people can explore difficult topics while creating physical and emotional safety. She uses a combination of anti-oppressive and trauma-informed psychotherapy approaches, music therapy, complex trauma support, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Heidi recognizes that not every person or family's path is the same; oftentimes, challenges associated with fertility issues, miscarriages, emotional distress, "normal" pregnancies & births, or infant loss are complex and life-changing. Heidi is passionate about supporting the development of healthy families in order to create transformational and intergenerational change in our world. 

Heidi is an author and presenter who has offered research, education, and clinical supervision at regional, national, and international conferences as well as international universities and healthcare systems. Heidi was honored as the inaugural recipient of the Benedikte Scheiby "Innovative Spirit Award". This merit-based award recognizes someone from the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) who has worked to expand music therapy by crossing traditional theoretical and practice-oriented boundaries to meet diverse needs. Heidi has extensive experience with reproductive trauma, infertility, perinatal grief and loss, maternal and paternal identity formation, adoption, single-parenting, and family planning throughout the reproductive journey.
